1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. This website only uses the ones needed for authorised users to sign in to the tool and to protect the notification list form on the home page.
2. Cookies we use
Only first-party technical cookies. We do not use advertising or third-party cookies. We do not use analytics cookies. We count visits with Ahrefs Web Analytics, with no cookies and without storing personal data or IP addresses.
- KEYWARCH_SESSION: keeps you signed in to the tool and, on the home page, stores the security code of the notification list form, which prevents another website from submitting the form on your behalf. It expires after 2 hours.
- KEYWARCH_REMEMBER: only if the user ticks “Remember me” when signing in. It keeps the session on that device for up to 30 days; it is deleted when signing out.
3. Anti-robot check and external resources
When the anti-robot check is active, the home page form loads SoftwaCAP (captcha.softwalabs.com), the SoftwaLabs anti-robot system. It does not set cookies: it reads some technical data from the browser and behavioural signals to tell people from robots, and it is only used to protect the form submission. The details are in the Privacy policy.
The public pages (the home page and these legal texts) use typefaces hosted on our own server: they do not load anything from Google. The tool's sign-in screens still load their typeface from Google Fonts; Google receives the browser's IP address when serving it, but it does not set cookies.
4. Consent
As these cookies are strictly necessary to provide the service the user requests (accessing their account or submitting the notification list form), they are exempt from consent under article 22.2 of the LSSI-CE. That is why the website does not show a cookie banner.
5. Managing cookies
You can set your browser to block or delete cookies:
- Chrome: Settings - Privacy and security - Cookies
- Firefox: Settings - Privacy & Security - Cookies
- Safari: Preferences - Privacy - Cookies
- Edge: Settings - Privacy - Cookies
If you block them, you will not be able to sign in to the tool or submit the notification list form.
